Service-Specific FAQs
Weed Control Service FAQ
Do you offer one-time applications?
We no longer offer one-time weed control applications. We require two applications at minimum because one-time applications are largely ineffective and you likely won't see any results. For more information, check out this post on our blog.
Aerations and fire ant treatments can be done as a one-time service.
Aerations and fire ant treatments can be done as a one-time service.
Are the treatments Pet-Safe?
We provide pet-friendly weed control services! There are always some precautions which should be taken with any type of treatment though. While the products we use aren't dangerous to people or pets unless ingested in large quantities, we always advise you to keep children and pets off of the lawn for two hours after the application is made. Information regarding the products applied will be left for you following each treatment.
When will my yard be treated?
You will be sent an email notifying you when you have an upcoming service. This email will also provide instructions about how to prepare your yard, such as picking up hoses, etc. We try to give at least a 24 hour prior notice before each service.
How do you determine my lawn's needs?
When you join our weed control program, the first thing we do is pull soil samples from your yard. The results of these samples will help us determine what needs to be applied to make the conditions best suited for the type of turf you have.
Will weed control treatments harm my grass?
No, we use products which are safe to apply on your turf. They are engineered to only target the weeds in your lawn. Keep in mind that if your lawn is comprised of more weeds than actual grass, killing the weeds will mean your yard will be brown for a while until the grass grows in. If we believe this could be the case with your yard, we will let you know and discuss options that can help get the grass established so your lawn is greened-up as fast as possible. We do not spray anything which will harm the grass though. Some products may potentially cause a slight temporary discoloration to the turf when applied in large quantities, but the discoloration will clear up after a couple of days.
Is there anything I need to do before or after a treatment?
You will receive an email with instructions prior to your yard being treated. The main thing to do before an application is make sure that your yard is clear of objects such as chairs, hoses, etc. The spray technician will leave any necessary follow-up instructions, upon completing each application.
Check out our blog post about how to prepare for a lawn treatment application for the general guidelines on what you should do before any treatment.

When is my payment due?
Payment for your service should be made when you receive an invoice for your service. Please make sure that you have a valid email address on file to receive your invoices. You can also set up auto pay in your client account to make sure your payment is never late.
Can I sign up in the fall or winter months?
Yes! You can join our weed control program in the fall or winter. It's actually a great time to join because weed control efforts for spring start in the late wintertime.
Can I join in the Spring or summer months?
Yes, you can sign up for our weed control program any time of the year! You will pick up service with where we are in the current year's rounds at the time that you join the program. Be aware that joining in the summertime once the warm season weeds have already germinated will limit the results that you'll see that summer. This is because your yard won't have received the earlier pre-emergent weed control treatments for that year. We'll be limited to controlling weeds with post-emergent products.
However, you'll still be on schedule for controlling winter weeds come fall time. Then the next summer you will see more noticeable results with the summer weeds since we'll be able to make those pre-emerge applications.

Spring Season - Why is my lawn not out of dormancy and greened-up yet?
There are many factors that effect when your grass will transition out of dormancy and turn green. We explain these factors in greater detail in our blog article about why your lawn may not be greening up yet.
Just because the daytime temperature gets into the 70s for a day doesn't mean your grass is going to turn green yet. It's the nighttime temperatures which really impact turf growth and the dormancy process.
Also, your neighbor's yard might be greened-up long before yours or vise versa. This isn't anything to be concerned over. Remember that grass is a living thing, it's not on a set timer. To understand why your lawn hasn't greened up yet, read our blog post explaining it here.

Irrigation System Service FAQ
Can you add more zones or heads to my existing irrigation system?
Yes we can.
As long as you have enough water pressure, we can add additional heads to an existing zone if the current layout doesn't provide proper coverage. We will test the pressure first to make sure it can handle extra heads.
We can add additional zones to your existing system as long as your controller is not already set up with the maximum number of supported zones. If it is maxed out, we will need to install a bigger controller that can support additional zones. Adding more zones also requires additional valves to be installed, so we may need to put in a bigger valve box too. If you are looking to expand your existing system, you can request a free estimate, and our irrigation experts will check your system to let you know what work will need to be done.

HOW LONG SHOULD I SET MY IRRIGATION SYSTEM TO RUN FOR MY MIDDLE GEORGIA LAWN?
We have a quick, informational video on our irrigation help page explaining the best irrigation system settings to use for watering your lawn in Middle Georgia. Be sure to watch it for a full explanation from a turf and irrigation expert.
If you don't have time to check out the video right now, here's a basic rundown of the secret to watering your lawn properly. This should be the goal you aim for when setting irrigation times.
The Main Secret to Watering Grass Properly
You want to water your lawn deep and infrequently. That means watering longer, but on fewer days. This will train the turf roots to grow down deeper which helps your lawn become more resistant to drought when watering restrictions are put in place during the hot, dry summer months. If you water 5 minutes per day everyday, this is too short and too often. The root system will remain shallow because the water won't get down deep into the soil.
Each lawn is unique. Some lawns are naturally more prone to remaining wet or drying out easier than others. Also, different types of grass prefer different conditions. You will need to consider factors such as these when setting up your irrigation times in order to create a schedule customized to meet your lawn's specific needs. It's best to have an professional irrigation specialist help you set up an irrigation schedule that will provide the best results for your yard. That's why schedule optimization is included as a standard part of all irrigation service calls and inspections that our irrigation team does.

Help! I'm having an irrigation emergency!
If the system does not have an isolation valve or you don't know where it is...
If the system has an isolation valve...
You should have a complete inspection of your entire irrigation system conducted by a trained irrigation specialist as soon as possible if you experience any catastrophic failure or major malfunction. We recommend having your system inspected and serviced annually or, at the very least, every-other year. Doing so will help prevent issues from turning into serious problems and help protect the investment you made in installing it.
- Cut off the water supply at your property's main water meter for the moment. This will stop further flooding, but it will also cut off the water supply for your entire property.
- Once water is shut off, see Terry's instructions for irrigation emergencies at this link here.
- If you are renting the property, contact your landlord right away if possible.
- Get in touch with us as explained in Terry's instructions linked above. Be sure to inform us that you had to shut off ALL water to your entire property.
If the system has an isolation valve...
- Shut off the water supply to the break in the irrigation system using the isolation valve.
- Once the break is isolated, see Terry's instructions for irrigation emergencies at this link here.
- Get in touch with us as explained in Terry's instructions linked above. Let us know that you've been able to successfully isolate the break.
- Check the break every few hours to make sure the water supply is completely shut off and the valve is holding.
- Keep the valve closed until repairs are completed.

How often should I have my irrigation system serviced?
At the very least, you should not go more than 2 years without servicing your irrigation system.
We recommend you have your system inspected and serviced annually each spring by a qualified irrigation professional. This will help keep your irrigation system in the best condition and operating with maximum water usage efficiency.
